The Maskin Mekano range of mobile crushers

Our crushing plants are known for being well-built, reliable and userfriendly. The electric drive of the crushers ensure very low operating costs. Maskin Mekano has delivered equipment for crushing and screening for 60 years- let us help you become more productive!

Our Modular Concept for Feeding, Crushing, and Sorting

The ambition with Maskin Mekano’s new modular concept is to combine the best features of stationary plants with the flexibility of a mobile setup. This innovative approach allows for efficient, adaptable, and scalable solutions that can be tailored to meet the specific needs of your operation, whether stationary or mobile.

Frequently asked questions about crushing

Here are some of the most frequently asked questions we receive about screening. If you can’t find the answer to your question, feel free to contact us!

What is the goal of crushing?

The goal is not to make the material as small as possible. Crushing should deliver exactly the particle size and shape the final product requires. Anything crushed more than necessary costs energy and wear and creates unnecessary fines.

No. Two screens with the same screening area can give completely different results. What matters is how the screen box moves, how long the material stays on the deck, how well it is loosened and how evenly it is fed. Judge a screen by the clean fractions it produces in your material, not just by tonnes per hour.

Crusher type Typical task Suited for
Jaw crusher Primary crushing of large pieces Quarries, concrete demolition, recycled material
Cone crusher Secondary and tertiary crushing, low fines and good particle shape Hard rock and high-quality aggregates
Impact crusher Cubical particle shape and effective liberation Recycled concrete, asphalt, limestone, softer rock
VSI (vertical-shaft impact crusher) Improves particle shape, sand production Concrete aggregates and premium chippings

The most powerful crusher is not automatically the best. The best one meets the product quality with the lowest energy demand and wear.

No. We focus on what we do best, screening and material handling, and combine it with proven crushers from leading manufacturers. Sandvik is used for reliability in quarries and recycling, and Techroq VSI crushers where particle shape is decisive. You get a complete solution where crusher and screen are matched to each other.

A great deal. A narrower setting gives finer material but higher energy use, more wear and more fines. A wider setting gives higher capacity but coarser products that may need recrushing. The right setting depends on the material and the final product and should be checked regularly. Optimising it costs nothing.

Not automatically. Every extra stage raises energy consumption, wear, fines and operating cost. If the quality requirements are met earlier in the process, further crushing adds no value.

Wear often originates in the process, not the machine. More even feeding, the right crusher setting, less recirculating material and better transfer points often reduce wear more than more expensive wear parts. Planned replacements are also cheaper than unplanned stops.

Not necessarily. The cause is often too much recirculating material from a screen that does not separate well enough. In one project, optimising the screening stage and adjusting the crusher setting was enough for the existing crusher to reach the target.

The crusher’s product determines how hard the screen is loaded, how much recirculates and what quality the final products get. A well-matched crusher and screen combination gives lower energy consumption, less wear and better products than two machines chosen separately.
