Compact screening plant on a hook-lift frame

ECO2 is built on a hook-lift frame, providing exceptionally low relocation costs. The machine is electrically powered but can also be operated using the onboard diesel generator, consuming only 2.5 l/h, which results in very low operating costs.

The screening unit features a double-deck screen that makes changing between different material fractions quick, simple, and cost-effective. This allows even small batches to be processed profitably. Maskin Mekano’s screening plants are manufactured in Sweden and are renowned for their robust design and attention to detail.

Questions & Answers

1. What type of diesel engine does it use?

A Stage V liquid-cooled four-cylinder engine powering a 20 kVA generator. The engine runs at a fixed speed of 1,500 rpm, making it both quiet and fuel-efficient.

2. How do you change the screen mesh, and how long does it take?

The top deck mesh is side-tensioned and secured with four bolts on each side. The bottom deck mesh is length-tensioned and secured with only two bolts. The front nose section of the screen can be folded down for improved access to the bottom deck. One person can perform the change, and after some practice it takes approximately 15 minutes per deck.

3. How much does a screen mesh cost?

A standard top deck screen mesh costs approximately SEK 3,000–4,000. A bottom deck mesh costs approximately SEK 2,500–3,000.

4. What if I only want to produce one fraction?

In that case, you only screen on the top deck and leave the bottom deck empty. It is important to secure the tension strip at the bottom so it does not vibrate, as this can quickly wear out the screen sidewalls. The rear locking strip must also be removed or secured with tie-down straps.

5. What is the loading height of the feed hopper, and what type of wheel loader is required?

The feed hopper loading height is 2.6 m.

6. How does a vibrating feeder perform when screening soil?

The ECO2 vibrating feeder is specially designed to handle difficult materials by operating with larger movements and lower speeds than conventional vibrating feeders. Its flexibility makes it suitable for virtually all material types.

7. Can the feed rate of the vibrating feeder be adjusted?

Absolutely. It is controlled via a frequency converter using the same remote control that operates the tipping grizzly.

8. What parts typically wear out or break?

ECO2 is a very robust machine that shares many components with our larger models. Screen meshes should be re-tensioned regularly to maximize service life. With proper maintenance, including oil and filter changes and greasing the bearings every 40 operating hours, very little tends to fail.

9. What should I charge if I rent out the screening plant?

For hourly rental, a good rule of thumb is to charge the same rate as for a wheel loader and operator, approximately SEK 800/hour. Short-term rentals are recommended only to customers you know well. Monthly rental rates are typically around SEK 40,000, although pricing varies by region.

10. How many lubrication points are there? Is central lubrication available?

Central lubrication is available but rarely requested. There are only four grease points, all located on the screen and easily accessible. These should be lubricated every 40 operating hours. All conveyor bearings are sealed and pre-lubricated for life. The cylinder rod-end bearings should be greased approximately once per year.

11. How much does it weigh, and what type of truck is required for transport?

The standard machine weighs approximately 10 tonnes, making it suitable for transport with a standard bogie truck. Local transport regulations may vary.

12. Is financing available?

Yes. Both hire purchase and leasing options are available. The most common arrangement is a seven-year lease with a 20% down payment and a 10% residual value.

13. What is the fuel consumption?

ECO2 is extremely economical to operate, consuming only 2.5 litres of diesel per hour.

14. How long does it take to fold up and relocate?

The conveyors fold hydraulically for transport, with no loose braces to remove or install. The machine can be prepared for transport in approximately 3 minutes and can be set up just as quickly at a new site.

15. What will it be worth after 6–7 years?

Historically, Maskin Mekano screening plants have retained their value exceptionally well.

16. What is the capacity?

ECO2 is used for a wide range of screening applications, including asphalt, concrete, gravel, excavated materials, topsoil, scrap, and construction waste. For soil screening, capacity typically ranges from 30–150 tph depending on moisture content and material characteristics. For other materials, capacity is generally between 100–200 tph.
